New residential development proposed for Wintergreen
On March 10th, The Nelson County Times ran a story headlined "Nelson County receives $600K for affordable housing development" regarding a Wintergreen project called Renaissance Ridge. The article said the project was awarded $600,000 on March 1st via the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development “for constructing 60 housing units.”

Seven days later (March 17th), the Wintergreen Property Owners Association sent out an email with a link to information on its website that offered some of WPOA’s history with this property next to Stoney Creek, including links to county documents, some going back to 2004.
That same day, the first public announcement from the developers about this project was released, saying, “In alignment with the Wintergreen Master Plan, Renaissance Ridge neighborhood at Stoney Creek will reflect similar housing types and price ranges based on the precedent set during Wintergreen’s comprehensive development history. Starting prices are anticipated to start at $200K+ and as high as $600K.”
On March 19th, the developers released slides from a formal Powerpoint-type presentation with more details, including maps, a timeline, and the type and size of the development they proposed. The key slides from the developers are below.
While not confirmed, sources not authorized to speak for the developers say more information from Renaissance Ridge LLC is expected in a few weeks, including an online Zoom meeting with members of the Wintergreen community.
