The “assist agency” police calls down by 63 from last year is due to Nelson County’s Sheriff Department’s efficiencies and adding manpower. “Wintergreen is very safe,” said Wintergreen Police Chief Dennis Russell.

The long-planned (since the 1990s) Wintergreen emergency exit onto the Blue Ridge Parkway should be approved soon, Fire & Rescue Chief Curtis Sheets said.

Several property owners asked that WPOA encourage people to turn their outdoor lights off when they are not being used.
