Tuckahoe Clubhouse’s new patio got four large umbrellas for shade in May 2023. This 15-second clip from the manufacturer’s YouTube video provides some insights on how to maneuver the large umbrellas.
To open, step one after releasing the strap is to turn the top crank clockwise. Several turns are required before the umbrella cloth starts to expand. A light push forward on the umbrella is sometimes welcomed when opening.
With the umbrella open, pull the yellow trigger on the handle on the pole and slide it up to adjust the angle using the lock points along the pole. (Note the arrow in the photo here.) It’s counter-weighted so it moves up and down easily. The handle all the way up the pole puts the umbrella parallel to the floor.
The bottom crank handle swings the umbrella 360 degrees to move where the shade is cast.
