We had the porch floor replaced, all the screens replaced, and a dryer vent extended and boxed in. All the work was accomplished in short order at a reasonable cost. They removed all the furniture from the porch to begin and replaced it when they were done. They removed all the trash and left a clean job site. I highly recommend Tsetsi Tsvetomil (434-806-1416). He repaired and painted the cathedral ceiling after a leak in the roof, and then proceeded to a whole honey-do list, including pressure washing, sealing the concrete and decking, and repairing a wooden bench on the deck and an outside door. I am happy to recommend Sleep On It!, a mattress store in Waynesboro (540-943-5850). We were able to complete the purchase over the phone and they delivered it to our Stony Creek home as promised. They carry Paramount mattresses–made in the USA by a company based in Norfolk (as well as many other brands). They took away the old mattress, saying they would put the mattress out behind their store and that it would almost certainly disappear within hours. We called a local appliance repair firm we had used in the past to have our refrigerator fixed, but they told us their tech who did that kind of work had quit. They suggested we call A&E Factory Service (1-800-905-9505), a national firm based in Illinois that has technicians in this area. The A&E tech did a very good job and we'll use them again. Albert told us he often comes to Wintergreen. There are a lot of steps on the phone and online you have to follow with A&E. We had to agree to pay $114 for someone to come out even if we didn't like their analysis of the issue or their projected cost of the repair, which in our case was not cheap but not outrageous. I highly recommend a small family-owned business, All Washed Up, that cleaned our roof of moss and algae. They performed a thorough cleaning using a low-pressure, soft wash process and algaecide to kill and neutralize the shingle damaging algae and moss. I highly recommend Allied Pest Control. Sam Vafiadis services both Wintergreen and the Richmond area. Sam treated areas no other pest control technician has ever done. He took the faceplates off of the kitchen outlets and treated the electric boxes, opened the windows and treated the windowsills, sprayed the decks, front porch, siding, and under the eaves. He schedules you for your next quarterly visit while he is there so you know when to be in Wintergreen well in advance. Sam is knowledgeable and friendly. We had a leak coming from our ceiling near the kitchen. Peace of Mind's plumbers came out the same day to locate the leak and replace the damaged pipe, but they were not able to handle the repair ceiling. Hearing of our situation, Dave Brown recommended Jose Sillas (434-962-3150), who could make the drywall repairs to the ceiling and touch up the popcorn finish within a couple of days. We once again recommend Jose Silas and his crew for painting and power washing. He power washed the white trim and railings on our deck and rear of our house, which had become quite grimy and showing signs of black mold. He made it look almost new! He then re-stained the deck boards, moving all the deck furniture to one side, doing half, making sure it was dry, then moving the furniture to the other side and completed the job. Inside he re-painted a number of walls, first patching holes where hangers had been removed and scrapes and "dings" in the walls. He sealed off areas with plastic sheeting and tape where he wasn't painting. He was meticulous. When he finished he thoroughly cleaned up, sweeping and vacuuming as necessary.
