Daryl Morse - 434-944-4378

Daryl Morse (434-944-4378) has a dozen detailed recommendations in the WBB's directory from people who have used his help in their yards, but one point isn't as clear as it should be: Mr. Morse is professional. He listens. He's got pro equipment, a big, well-maintained truck with a large trailer, and he knows what he's doing, as we saw demonstrated recently when we needed our elaborate hedges brought under control. He's a hands-on businessman, but he has some good help in the summer. Submitted by Charles Batchelor. June 2024

I concur with the recommendation of Daryl Morse (434-944-4378) in the July 9 WBB. He did exceptional work trimming trees, and cleaning our property of broken branches, and yard debris.  His price was less than half of the other quoted prices. Submitted by Trevor Campbell.

Daryl Morse (434-944-4378) does great yard work. I highly recommend him and his crew for lawn service. Submitted by Barb Graves

Daryl Morse (434-944-4378) did a fabulous job at a very reasonable price–half what our other estimate was– on our mountain house spring cleanup around our yard, getting rid of the leaves, sticks,  mulch, and snakes. Submitted by Marnie Rapaport. July 2023

For all your landscaping needs, I recommend Daryl Morse (434-944-4378). Daryl has been a big help to me for years; he built a playground, cut down grasses, bushes, and trees, trimmed and mulched, added gravel to the driveway, cleaned the gutters, raked the leaves, lawn cutting, etc. He has a lot of up-to-date equipment and a support network of brothers and friends that makes all things possible. On top of his expertise, he is good company, on time, and reasonable. Submitted by Mary Gurr. April 2022

I found Darryl Morse on the WBB Directory and used him to take down a couple of big dead and dying trees that could fall and damage both my mountain home and possibly my neighbors. He did a yeoman’s job at a fair price, took care of the debris, and left things cleaner and neater than before he started. He even took out a couple of smaller dead trees as a “bonus” to me without my requesting it nor did he charge extra for it. I can wholeheartedly recommend him if you are in need of his services. I want to recommend Daryl Morse of Daryl's Lawn Service (434-944-4378) for any number of homeowner chores ranging from lawn mowing, snow removal, leaf raking, providing and spreading mulch & topsoil, tree removal, gutter cleaning, etc. Daryl, his brother, and his extended family provide these services. I've used Daryl for several years and have always found him to be responsive and his work excellent. Daryl Morse is a highly recommended source for those outside chores you want help with. We’d like to add to the long list of recommendations for Daryl Morse (434-944-4378). Upon reading prior yard work recommendations for Daryl, we called him for some heavy whacking of non-native vegetation in our lower garden. Every part of working with him was easy, from communication to arrival to work through the day. We are very satisfied and intend to use him more. Submitted by Kate Humphrey Chambers. August 2012

We called Daryl Morse (434-325-9196) for help with our yard work. He came on time with a crew of about six workers. They did a fine job of weeding, edging, spreading mulch, and putting in a stone-lined water drainage circle. His charges were fair. We would definitely hire him again. Submitted by Carleton Luck. May 2021

If you have dead trees in a tight spot, we recommend Daryl Morse - 434-944-4378. He and his tree work crew removed a tall dead tree right beside our house. He also cut it up and split it for us for firewood. Tim & Carol Hade.

I would like to recommend Daryl Morse for excellent capability in yard care. He has helped me numerous times in the last year and has always done an outstanding job. His skills include mowing, mulching to include mulch delivery, trimming shrubs and trees, leaf blowing, and hauling dead wood and yard debris. He will also shred wood if desired. His work is meticulous and his rates very reasonable. Daryl can be reached at 434-944-4378. Submitted by Brooks Cook. 2018

I heartily recommend Daryl Morse for your tree work. He has helped me for years; he cuts down and breaks up limbs, trims, or whatever is needed at that time. He either fills a dump truck with all the limbs or brings his shredder. He has a powerful chainsaw that seems as if it is cutting through butter. I always buy mulch from him, too—he has the best price and dependable delivery. He can spread mulch, seed, cut grass, bush hog—you name it. He’ll also haul away your own piles of brush. You may contact Daryl at 434-944-4378. Submitted by Mary Gurr. 2018

Stephan Peters - Champion Pest Control - 434-906-0574

For all living in Stoney Creek and Wintergreen’s beautiful mountains and forest, we understand one challenge is pest control. It is a small price for such an extraordinary privilege, but a must-do nonetheless. We had been using another service, but they lacked scheduling flexibility. Enter Stephan Peters, owner of Champion Pest Control (434-906-0574) who we discovered on Nextdoor with multiple recommendations. Stephan came to our property and executed a proactive pest management plan after a thorough inspection. He is conscientious, flexible, and competitively priced. He is also pleasant and listens to your concerns. Submitted by Noah and Francesca Flood. June 2024

Amber Fitzgerald - 434-989-0116

After reading two recommendations in the WBB's house cleaning listings for Amber Fitzgerald, I called her. She has been at my home twice, and I am very happy to add my positive recommendation for her and her work ethic. She is hard-working, very personable, fair in her pricing, and shows up on time. She is a delight to work with and have in your home. Amber promptly responds to text messages (434-989-0116). Submitted by Carol Dworin. January 2025

I found Amber Fitzgerald in the WTG Bulletin Board Recommendations Directory.  She was a great find as I had trouble finding someone to clean our house. She is a very hard worker and efficient.  I give her five stars! She can be reached at 434-989-0116. Submitted by Mary Sayre. September 2024

I’m delighted to let y’all know that a former employee of mine, Amber Fitzgerald, is starting her own housecleaning business. She cleaned for 15 years in both residential and commercial settings. As she is just getting started here, she has room for you. Since finding a good cleaner is hard to find, act quickly. She’s looking for people who will be fun to work for and appreciate her work. She generally charges a flat rate and her rates are reasonable. She uses either environmentally sustainable or traditional cleaning supplies. Call or text Amber at 434-989-0116. Cleaning, maid, housekeeper,

Albemarle Heating and Air - 434-293-4556

We finally got around to replacing our 20-year-old tankless LP gas water heater. They are complex devices (gas, water, electrical, venting), so we carefully shopped around for an experienced plumber. We turned to Matt Morris, the only plumber at Albermarle Heating & Air (434-293-4556), who was here all day with an assistant to install a new Rinnia unit. They were very careful on every installation step and did an outstanding job. Submitted by Charles Batchelor. January 2025

Last week I had a good experience with Albemarle Heating and Air (434-293-4556), a large operation serving several localities around us. They are not cheap, but I was impressed with the professionalism and craftsmanship of the plumber and his trainee. They replaced a worn-out (noisy) pressure-reducing valve and primary shut-off under the house, fixed a difficult leak on the pipes coming from the water heater and, (since they were here) put in a new basket on the sink in the wet bar. (I felt lazy having them to do it, but it turned out to be not an easy task even for the pros.) They do “give you the opportunity” to have a service contract, but the discounts only make sense (and then, only maybe) if you have them always do both plumbing and HVAC. Hillbilly Hustle - 434-826-8349

We have just had the team at Hillbilly Hustle (434-826-8349) complete a good bit of landscaping work at our home on the golf course and are extremely pleased. On the recommendation of Jackson Cox at Wintergreen Hardware, we reached out to Andy and Dick for help with controlling the brush and growth on our hill. The job required removing all weeds and small saplings, grading the piles of rocks and stones, and moving the large pile of wood chip mulch to be spread evenly across the hill for future weed control. They were fast, professional, polite, and affordable. They left the site clean and neat. We highly recommend them and will most definitely be using them again. They do all manner of yard work including mulch, gravel, tree cutting, and excavation. Submitted Rob and Tiffany Keaton.  May 2024

Landscaper, weeding,

Rob Moses - 434-202-4320

We highly recommend the work of Rob Moses, Blue Ridge Building and Home Security (434-202-4054). He installed Ring cameras for front and back security of our home, grab bars in our shower, and front porch railing for our one-foot step-up front porch. We didn't urgently need any of these improvements, but we are relieved that they are in place as we age in place. Rob is the true definition of "professional" in every way.  Submitted by Janie Friedlein. August 2024

I highly recommend Rob Moses, Blue Ridge Building & Home Safety Solutions (434-202-4054, brhomesafety.com), to anyone looking for top-notch deck repair and rejuvenation.  Rob reconstructed our front deck, including dealing with odd angles and load-bearing posts, and replaced and updated the railing with cable.  He also replaced damaged boards on another deck and prepped and re-stained both decks.  Lynn and I could not be happier with the results.  Rob took great care in planning and executing every step and always kept me informed of progress.  It was a pleasure working with Rob. Submitted by Rob Pritchard. May 2024

We had Rob Moses of Blue Ridge Building & Home Safety Solutions (434-202-4054) repair and replace decking on several decks. He was efficient and reliable and identified several small areas which needed work. Submitted by Gerry DeWitt. May 2024

I had a terrific experience with Rob Moses of Blue Ridge Building & Home Safety Solutions (434-202-4054) who helped to renew my deck boards. He was pleasant and hard-working. He said he would arrive at 8 and did. Took extra care to make sure any cut ends were dipped in copper solution. It was a pleasure working with Rob. Submitted by Jon Aronson. April 2024

We are very pleased with the service and installation of our new screen doors. Rob from Blue Ridge Home Safety (info@brhomesafety.com, 434-202-4320) recommended security screen doors from Lowe’s to take advantage of the natural cross breeze we enjoy on mild days. The first screen door was installed quickly but we had some rotten wood surrounding the door jam on the back porch. Rob expertly repaired the troubled areas, explaining what he was doing each step of the way. He sealed the new trim, caulked it, and painted it before installing the screen door. The process came out perfectly! These screen doors are rugged and would be nearly impossible to penetrate. Submitted by Bill and Shelly Scott. March 2024

We recently contacted Blue Ridge Home Safety for a home assessment to recommend improvements designed for aging in place. They responded quickly with a detailed assessment, followed by estimates for any of the improvements that we decided we wanted to have done. Work commenced quickly on installing handrails, bathroom grab bars, and a new security system, among other items. Rob and Sara Moses have been an absolute delight to work with. Every aspect of their operation, from communication to scheduling and showing up on time, to quality workmanship, to billing, and an easy payment system, has been impeccable. They are located in Stoney Creek and their services complement those of Here to Stay Wintergreen, even offering a discount to Here to Stay Wintergreen members. We highly recommend Blue Ridge Home Safety for anyone interested in making safety improvements to their home. Submitted by Joan and Doug Clarke. June 2023

We would like to recommend Blue Ridge Home Safety (434–202–4054) for home improvement projects. Rob Moses has renovated our decks. All floorboards were replaced along with railings on our deck and our front porch was completely replaced as well as the stairs up to the screened-in porch. The workmanship was outstanding.  He arrived at 8 am or earlier and left his worksite organized and clean every day. Submitted by Jackie Castro. September 2023

We recently had Blue Ridge Home Safety of Nellysford (434-202-4054, brhomesafety.com) perform an assessment of our home which included a detailed inspection of both the inside and outside. Shortly thereafter we met with them again and went over a detailed report of suggested modifications to improve our home’s safety and security. Many of the modifications and installations can be performed by BRHS. They can also provide the names of reputable handyman services who can. They are certified Senior Home Safety Specialists and certified home safety advisors for aging in place. We were very impressed with BRHS’s professionalism and strongly recommend that others in our community have a safety evaluation of their homes. It was well worth it. Submitted by S. E. Martino. James Chambers - 540-307 1217

In response to the request for recommendations for gas fireplace maintenance, I have used Chambers Contracting in Fisherville (540-307 1217). James Chambers responded to my request within two days instead of some of the businesses in the Yellow Pages who took weeks or more to respond. He has a fixed price for a visit and was very efficient and professional. I was happy with his response and his work; he left my fireplace in good working order and cleaned up the workspace. He also cleans and inspects fireplaces and woodstoves of all types. Submitted by David Witmer. April 2024

Donna Crabtree - 706-414-7325

I highly recommend Rockfish Gap Embroidery to anyone looking for custom embroidery services. Donna Crabtree is easy to work with and takes the time to understand what type of design you are interested in. Donna's turnaround time is very reasonable as are her prices for her expert work. I have had hats, aprons, and towels all embroidered by Donna, and the final product was always flawless. Some examples of her work can be seen in the Wintergreen Resort gift shop on the mountain. Give Donna a call if you are looking for exceptional embroidery services. Submitted by Robin Pullen. April 2024

Tyler Lucas - 434-981-9441

I highly recommend Tyler Lucas massage services (434-981-9441) in the Rockfish Center office complex in Beech Grove, just off Route 664. With over 20 years of experience, he's not only very professional but offers an amazing level of quality that exceeds most of the massages I've had at the Greenbrier, Homestead, Sanderling Resort, and other places. He has very reasonable rates. Submitted by Ellen English. April 2024

Brad Davis - 540-470-8185

I highly recommend Brad Davis, the owner of Rockfish Valley Construction. He specializes in carpentry but is also a licensed and insured contractor. He recently took our idea of creating custom built-in shelving for our mud room and quickly turned it into reality. The finished shelving looks like it is part of the original home, and will offer us some much-needed storage. He added trim to coordinate with the rest of our home and moved the air and electrical vents to the base so they were still usable. He showed up when expected at all times, and worked our job until it was completed. Every aspect of our experience with Brad was highly professional. You can contact him at 540-470-8185 or email at Rockfishvalleyconstruction@gmail.com. Submitted by Mary Creed-Pallone. April 2024
