Seven Route 151 intersections with high wreck frequency

The state is targeting for study these seven “Potential Safety Improvement” intersections along Route 151 which have a high wreck frequency. See the Nelson County Times article for more details.

River Road (Route 6, toward US Route 29). VDOT has a plan for this intersection and has requested funding for a roundabout.

Avon and Afton Mountain Road

Greenfield Road, south of Ashley’s Market (Route 635)

Rockfish School Lane (the road from Route 151 to the trash disposal and RVCC)

Tanbark Drive (Route 840, the BP station and Afton Family Medicine). VDOT has a plan for this intersection and has requested funding.

Monocan Drive (the entrance to Stoney Creek)

Beech Grove Road (Route 664 to Wintergreen Resort and Devils Backbone Basecamp)

“The corridor from a standpoint of its day-to-day activities runs pretty well. We do recognize that during peak hours on the weekends and in the summer specifically, those characteristics change quite a bit,” Lynchburg VDOT District Planner Rick Youngblood told the Nelson County Board of Supervisors.
